The latest recognition for The Diplomat Beach Resort at this year's Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) South Florida Hospitality Awards Gala where the property's General Manager, Ed Walls, received the 2017 South Florida Hospitality Award for General Manager of the Year.

Ed Walls has been General Manager of The Diplomat Beach Resort for more than six years. The 1,000-room property recently underwent a $100M transformation which debuted in April 2017 with newly designed guest rooms, 26 poolside cabanas, a sleek and open-designed lobby, and ten culinary concepts - two of which are helmed by Celebrity Chefs Michael Schulson (award-winning Monkitail) and Geoffrey Zakarian (Point Royal).

The awards gala was held on Friday, November 10, and celebrated South Florida's top hospitality executives, presenting awards for Sales & Marketing Professional of the Year, Revenue Manager of the Year, and General Manager of the Year while honoring William D. Talbert III as Hospitality Legend of the Year. The gala also hosted a silent auction where proceeds would benefit the HSMAI South Florida Dr. Peter Ricci Scholarship.
