MCLEAN, Va. - The team at The Sam Houston Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton was proud to welcome the Rob Jones Journey to the hotel as Rob continues on his cross-country marathon mission. The hotel hosted Rob on one of the final stops in Houston, Texas before this amazing journey comes to an end.

The Curio brand has become actively involved in Rob's mission since learning about it. His goal to pay-it-forward to help other military veterans facing similar situations directly aligns with the Hilton CARE Culture, which encourages kindness and giving to demonstrate and inspire team members on the importance of individual commitment to make a difference every day for guests, associates and the communities in which we serve.

Wounded Marine Will Run 31 Marathons in 31 Days in 31 Different Cities
Rob Jones, a retired Marine Corps Sergeant who lost both legs when he stepped on an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan, is upping the ante on his historic accomplishments.   It's not enough that he won a Bronze Medal in the Paralympics.  Or that he was the first and only double above the knee amputee to ride a normal bicycle 5,180 miles across America.  Now, he is set to run 31 marathons in 31 days in 31 major cities.  Starting in London on October 12th, and continuing in the United States and Toronto, Rob will run 26.2 miles in the selected city on his own, travel to the next city, and repeat, ending appropriately on Veterans Day in our Nation's Capital.

Why would he undertake such a daunting and formidable challenge?  Because he lives by his motto, "Survive.  Recover.  Live."  And because he realizes that being a double amputee does not mean that he is incapable of continuing to serve his country even though he has retired from military service.

The Sam Houston Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton welcomed Rob and his support team with a plan to inspire and thank him during his time at our hotel. Local business owners, professionals and community members stopped by to meet Rob and wish him luck on the remainder of his journey. Best wishes Rob, we enjoyed having you in Houston!

So, help spread the word.  The Month of Marathons is coming your way. Rob will be raising money for three nonprofit military charities.  Visit www.robjonesjourney.com to donate and learn more, like and follow him on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram at @RobJonesJourney.  Meet up with Rob, run alongside him and unite.  Let's honor Rob as he continues to inspire and help others. In doing so, you will not only honor Rob, but all veterans, and the country that they represent.
